Fashion and Accessories
Women
Big gold earrings - the bigger the better, try big hair and big solid, gold earrings.
White leather cowboys boots - give it a go (if your game)
Coloured tights - these are almost a must for any female wanting to dress in 80's fashion. Try bright colours.
Fluoroescent shirts and socks - loose shirts and bulky socks
Tie sleeve and Batwing tops - tops with slashed sleeves tied at the wrist or shoulder, or sleeves extending from the waist to armpit. Teamed with a low-slung belt, tailored pants and pointy toe shoes.
Bubble skirts - A wide elastic belt could be wrapped around these fluffly numbers.
Belts, belts and more belts - try layering your belts with different colours.
Mini skirts - the shorter the better. Denim was always a hit.
Lace gloves - not very flattering but 80's nevertheless.
Power Suits - made famous by Linda Evans in Dynasty, women began wearing shoulder pads to show men they are no less equal. For men, pinstripes were the go with thin neck ties.
The Madonna look - short skirt over leggings, beads (lots of), bleached hair with dark roots, fish net stockings.
Men
The Miami Vice look - bright coloured shirts under suits with stubble.
Hawaiian shirts - often accompanied with sports jackets.
Leather jackets - made popular by Michael Jackson, his look was often replicated with oversized jackets and puffy sleeves.
Brown aviator jackets - plain brown jackets often accompanied with sunglasses.
Designer sneakers - Converse, Air Jordans and Adidas were huge!
Acid washed jeans and denim jackets - big for both men and women! Also severely ripped and bleached jeans were very popular.
Hairstyles
Women
Think big and eccentric with loads of mousse and hairspray. Sometimes glitter would be added also. Frizzy was also very popular, often accompanied by a banana clip or something similar.
Men
Mullet! They were in during the 80's. The hair was cut short on the sides and left grown at the back. Sideburns were common. They were relatively short and well groomed.
Eyewear
Glasses with large plastic frames were in for both men and women during the 80's. For men, aviator glasses were massive made famous by Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer in Top Gun.
